Set several years after Mistress of Evil, the film—titled The Black Fairy or Dark Fae—opens on a fragile peace between humans and the fae. Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) and Aurora (Elle Fanning) now co-rule the Moors. But serenity shatters when an ancient form of dark magic awakens: the Black Fairy, née Queen Seraphine of the North (Megan Fox),
Seraphine’s tribe of exiled Fae sees Maleficent’s alliance with humans as a betrayal. She summons a powerful court of Dark Fae to reclaim dominance and purge impure magic from the Moors . Ashe erupts into political conflict. Maleficent is torn—Oz can undermine her legacy, yet she still feels protective toward children of both realms.

The trailer reveals a series of brutal battles: scorched forests, elemental magic duels, and armies clashing along the border as the Moors’ fate hangs in the balance . Ana de Armas appears briefly as Lys, an Oracle caught between prophecies—Maleficent or Seraphine will decide the realm’s destiny.

In the climax, Seraphine infiltrates Aurora’s court, threatening her unborn child—foreshadowed in Mistress of Evil. Maleficent faces an agonizing choice: side with her chosen daughter or preserve the purity of Fae. In a fiery showdown atop a shattered crystal throne, Maleficent displays new mastery over Dark Fae energy. She defeats Seraphine, but not without cost: fractured trust between humans and Fae, and a prophecy that a child born of both worlds could usher in either salvation or doom.

The film closes with Maleficent embracing a fragile hope: that a union of human and fae blood can break old curses.
