Fantastic Beasts 4 (2025) | Eddie Redmayne & Katherine Waterston

After the cliffhanger ending of The Secrets of Dumbledore, Fantastic Beasts 4 opens in 1934, on the eve of a full-scale Wizarding War. Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston) regroup in London. The blood pact between Grindelwald and Dumbledore has been shattered—Grindelwald escapes and begins consolidating magical alliances across Europe.

Newt begrudgingly joins an underground resistance, led by Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law), to recruit Aberforth (Richard Coyle) and Lally Hicks, forming a covert strike team. Their mission: secure ancient artifacts capable of countering Grindelwald’s growing influence. In Paris, they retrieve the first artifact—a mirror rumored to reflect one’s greatest truth—forcing Newt to finally confess his lingering grief over Leta Lestrange’s death.

As Grindelwald orchestrates a mass rally in Vienna, revealing a corrupted prophecy that he claims justifies his actions, chaos erupts in the streets. Meanwhile, Credence (Ezra Miller) suffers a relapse of his Obscurus power. In a tense showdown in the Vienna Opera House, Newt and Tina confront Grindelwald, while Dumbledore’s group rescues Credence. Credence, overwhelmed by guilt, sacrifices himself to save Dumbledore, dissipating his Obscurus and collapsing in Newt’s arms—hinting at a fragile redemption arc.

The climax sees Newt challenge Grindelwald, but the villain escapes once more. With Credence’s fate uncertain and the wizarding world on the brink of war, Fantastic Beasts 4 closes on a somber note: the resistance regrouping for a final showdown, and Newt and Tina finally admitting they need each other more than ever.
