Evil Dead 2: New Chapter (2025) brings back the terrifying world of the Necronomicon with a fresh new storyline that reimagines the franchise’s signature gore and horror. This time, it follows a new group of characters who unknowingly awaken the evil spirits lurking within the cursed Book of the Dead.
The film kicks off with a young couple, Emma and David, who inherit an isolated cabin deep in the woods. Looking for a quiet escape from their hectic city lives, they decide to spend a weekend there with their friends. Upon exploring the dusty old cabin, they stumble upon the Necronomicon—an ancient and grotesque book bound in human skin, filled with dark rituals and forbidden texts. David, out of curiosity, reads from it, unknowingly releasing the malevolent spirits that have long been trapped.
The evil presence begins tormenting the group with nightmarish visions, violent possessions, and grotesque body horror. The cabin transforms into a house of terror as the spirits possess the group one by one, turning them into Deadites—demonic entities with an insatiable thirst for blood. Emma takes on the role of the reluctant heroine, armed with a chainsaw and a shotgun, as she fights to survive the horrors unleashed upon them.
In true Evil Dead fashion, the film is packed with gruesome and over-the-top practical effects, including exploding heads, demonic transformations, and relentless gore. However, Evil Dead 2: New Chapter elevates the tension with psychological horror, as the characters are pushed to the brink of madness, unsure who among them is still human.
The climax of the film sees Emma discovering a spell that could potentially send the Deadites back to the underworld, but it comes at a great personal cost.
