The teaser trailer for John Carter 2 opens with sweeping, cinematic shots of the vast and barren deserts of Barsoom (Mars), overlaid with haunting music. A voiceover by John Carter (Taylor Kitsch) echoes in the distance: “I thought my war was over, that my time on Barsoom was just a memory. But Barsoom still calls to me… and its fate is in my hands once again.”
The scene quickly transitions to John Carter standing in a mysterious Martian temple, gazing up at an ancient mural depicting battles from a forgotten age. We hear Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins), the Princess of Helium, warning of a new danger: “An ancient evil is stirring, one that could tear our world apart.”
Cut to a montage of intense action scenes—Carter battling monstrous alien creatures with his sword, leaping impossibly high across Barsoom’s crumbling cities, and leading an army of Martian warriors into battle. The camera zooms in on Dejah Thoris, now a fierce warrior in her own right, wielding a weapon as she fights alongside Carter. There’s a sense of urgency as the entire planet seems on the brink of collapse.
The new antagonist is revealed—a dark and mysterious warlord named Tarsidon, the leader of a long-dormant Martian race that was once thought to be extinct. He is determined to seize control of the planet’s ancient technology and harness its power to conquer Barsoom and the galaxy beyond. Tarsidon’s army, clad in obsidian armor, is seen marching across the landscape, bringing destruction in its wake.
The teaser’s climactic moment shows John Carter standing on the edge of a cliff, looking out over a massive Martian battlefield. In the distance, towering machines of war and alien airships fill the sky as Tarsidon’s forces prepare to launch their final assault on Helium.
The final shot is of Carter holding up his sword, rallying his forces, as he declares, “Barsoom will never fall while I stand to defend it!”
The screen fades to black, and the title card appears: John Carter 2 – Coming 2025.
