The trailer for Acrimony 2 begins with a flashback to the final, heart-pounding moments of the first movie, where Melinda (Taraji P. Henson) was believed to have met a tragic end in the stormy waters. But as we see her hand break the water’s surface and pull her to safety, the voiceover reveals, “Some storms don’t drown you… they only make you stronger.”
The scene cuts to Robert (Lyriq Bent), now living a life of luxury with his new wife and child. He’s moved on, or so he thinks, but a close-up shows a hint of tension in his eyes. Soon after, strange occurrences start to plague him—a cryptic note left on his car, a perfume bottle from his past, and unsettling calls that he tries to brush off as coincidence. Yet, the tension rises when he spots a familiar figure in the distance at a business event, a figure that looks very much like Melinda.
A montage of escalating events flashes by: Robert’s business meetings are interrupted by unsettling messages, his marriage begins to show cracks, and he starts losing high-profile contracts. His wife grows increasingly paranoid as she realizes someone is stalking their home. Finally, Melinda reveals herself in a dramatic, intense confrontation with Robert, who is both horrified and bewildered by her survival.
The trailer picks up speed as Melinda unleashes her wrath, sabotaging Robert’s life and reputation with precision, stalking him at his weakest moments, and turning his closest allies against him. In one chilling scene, she confronts Robert’s wife, taunting her with knowledge of her husband’s past. Her anger is raw, but her methods are calculated, showing a new, more dangerous side of Melinda.
The trailer ends with Melinda whispering, “I won’t stop until everything you love is gone.” The final shot shows Robert’s world unraveling as Melinda walks away, unscathed and in control.
