The Nun 3 continues the terrifying saga of the demonic entity Valak within The Conjuring Universe. Set in the late 1960s, the third installment picks up after the chilling events of The Nun 2, expanding the lore surrounding Valak, the evil nun, and how its dark influence continues to spread across Europe.
The film opens with Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) once again being drawn into a battle against Valak. As they delve deeper into the abbey’s dark history, Irene uncovers an ancient ritual that ties Valak to the founding of the church itself. They realize that Valak is after a relic hidden within the abbey’s catacombs that holds the key to either banishing the demon forever or unleashing its full power.
The climax of the movie takes place in the heart of the abbey, where Irene confronts Valak in a terrifying showdown. Father Burke sacrifices himself to buy Irene enough time to perform the exorcism, but the final moments leave viewers on edge as Valak’s fate remains ambiguous.
