The trailer opens with an ominous church bell tolling in the distance. A stormy sky looms over a decaying, isolated church nestled deep in the woods. As lightning cracks, we hear the familiar voice of Ed Warren (Patrick Wilson), speaking in a low, fearful tone: “This is the most dangerous case we’ve ever faced.”
The scene cuts to the Warrens, Ed and Lorraine (Vera Farmiga), standing before a frightened young priest who clutches a crucifix. He whispers, “The devil is already here.” The camera pans across the church’s interior, showing signs of violent exorcisms – broken pews, melted candles, and sinister symbols scrawled across the walls.
As they investigate, Lorraine has one of her visions: a cloaked figure with red eyes and a twisted grin. It’s Valak, the demon from The Nun, making its horrifying return. Lorraine gasps and snaps back to reality, her fear palpable. Ed grabs her hand, sensing the dread. The tension rises as they discover the church is built on cursed land where countless exorcisms were performed – all of them failed.
Cut to quick flashes of intense scenes: Lorraine battling to keep her composure as she experiences disturbing premonitions, a possessed woman writhing in her bed, and Ed shouting Latin prayers as objects in the room hurl towards him. The Warrens uncover ancient, forbidden rituals hidden within the church’s archives – rites designed to summon even greater evil.
The music crescendos as we see Lorraine, eyes glowing white, walking through a dream-like realm filled with tortured souls. She faces Valak in its most terrifying form yet. “This time,” Lorraine whispers, “it wants us.”
The trailer peaks with rapid cuts of possession, violent exorcisms, and a final confrontation inside the church, where Ed is pinned against the wall by invisible forces. Lorraine screams his name as the lights flicker and the screen cuts to black.
